System IP Properties

Host Name

Read-only parameter. Indicates the local host name. The name is limited to 17 alphanumeric characters and must start and end with a digit or letter. Dashes in the name are allowed.

The Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the local host is generated as: [FQDN]::=[host name].[domain name]. You can modify the host name through Server Console. See Configure the Server.

NOTE: If you receive the following message from your browser when logging in to the System Administration Tool,"The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address" it's because there's no host name. Providing a host name will stop the message from appearing. For the 3300 ICP platform, log in to the Server Admin Console to enter the host name. For the ISS platform, log in to the MSL Admin Console to enter the host name.

Blank

System IPv4 Address

Read-only parameter. Indicates the system IP address. The address must not conflict with the DHCP Server Static IP Address or the Range IP Address. You can modify the IP address through Server Console. See Configure the Server.

CAUTION: Perform a database backup prior to changing a network element IP Address. If you must restore the backup to the same system (or other system) after the change, temporarily set the IP address of the target system to match the IP address in the backup.

After the restore, change the IP address back to its original. Otherwise, the mismatched addresses in the backup source database and the restore destination result in the addition of a new local Element to the Network Elements form.

For more information on database backup and restore, see,Backing up a Database, Restoring a Database and Restoring a Foreign MiVoice Business Database

IMPORTANT: When you change the system IP address, the DHCP subnet remains with the previous address. Which means you have to define a new scope after the change. Scopes for the internal DHCP server are defined in Configuration > DHCP in the Server Manager.

NOTE: On the CXi II platform, the address cannot conflict with the L2 Switch IP Address, and it must be on a different subnet than the WAN Ethernet IP Address. When the System IP Address is changed to a different subnet, the L2 Switch IP Address needs to change to the same subnet.

IPv4 Subnet Mask

Read-only parameter. Indicates the system network mask. You can modify the IP address through Server Console. See Configure the Server.

255.255.255.0

Gateway IPv4 Address

Read-only parameter. Indicates the IP address of the router on the same internal subnet as the System IP address. If no router is present, enter the L2 Switch IP Address of the CXi II or the IP address of the Applications Process Card (if installed). You can modify the IP address through Server Console. See Configure the Server.

192.168.1.1

Server Manager IPv4 Address

Enter the Server Manager IP address.

NOTE: This field applies only to MiVoice Business Virtual and MiVoice Business ISS systems.

Blank

Layer 2 (L2) Switch IPv4 Address

CXi II and MXe III only. Enter the IP Address for the internal L2 Switch. The L2 Switch IP Address cannot conflict with DHCP Server configuration, and it must be on the same subnet as the System IP Address.

192.168.1.1

System IPv6 Address

For more information on database backup and restore, see,, and Restoring a Foreign MiVoice Business Database

IMPORTANT: When you change the system IP address, the DHCP subnet remains with the previous address. Which means you have to define a new scope after the change. Scopes for the internal DHCP server are defined in Configuration > DHCP in the Server Manager.

NOTE: This field applies only to MiVoice Business Virtual and MiVoice Business ISS systems.

IPv6 Prefix Size

Read-only parameter. Indicates the number of bits that form the network prefix. You can modify the network prefix through Server Console.  See Configure the Server.

NOTE: This field applies only to MiVoice Business Virtual and MiVoice Business ISS systems.

Blank

Gateway IPv6 Address

Read-only parameter. Indicates the IP address of the router on the same internal subnet as the System IP address. You can modify the IP address through Server Console.  See Configure the Server.

NOTE: This field applies only to MiVoice Business Virtual and MiVoice Business ISS systems.

Blank

Server Manager IPv6 Address

Enter the Server Manager IP address.

NOTE: This field applies only to MiVoice Business Virtual and MiVoice Business ISS systems.

Blank

Media Server Address

Read-only parameter. Indicates the Media Server IP address. You can modify the IP address through Server Console.  See Configure the Server.

NOTE: This field applies only to MiVoice Business Virtual and MiVoice Business ISS systems.

Blank

802.1Q Setting (for QoS go to LAN Policy form)

Voice VLAN ID [1-4094]

Enter the voice VLAN membership number (1-4094) of the embedded L2 switch ports. This value should match the value programmed for DHCP Option 43 and 125.

NOTES

  • The VLAN ID range for the AX Controller is 1-4094 excluding those VLAN IDs that would be interpreted as the default VLAN ID 1. This affects VLAN IDs greater than 16 which include 17, 33, 49 … up to 4081. These values calculate to 1 + n * 16, where n is 1 to 255.

  • VLAN 4094 in the CXi II is usually reserved as an internal private VLAN for use with an Application Processor Card (APC). The APC card uses the controller's WAN port.

  • Normally, only one VLAN is required, the default VLAN 1, which carries both voice and data traffic. Optionally, the system can be programmed to support a Voice VLAN and a Data VLAN (CXi II only) in addition to the default VLAN. Voice packets from MiVoice IP Phones can belong to either the default VLAN or the Voice VLAN.

Use the LAN Policy (QoS) form to program Layer 2 Priority (IEEE 802.1D/p) and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) values.

Data VLAN ID [1-4094]

CXi II only. This field is optional. Use it only if there is a requirement to tag DATA traffic from the embedded L2 switch ports with a different VLAN ID than the default VLAN 1 ID.
